What Happened At Church Today

As you know, we canceled church today.  It didn't look too bad where I live, but several people could not get out so we made the decision to cancel.  I decided to go up to the church just to see if anybody would show up.  Last year, in the middle of a terrible blizzard we canceled church, but Josh Davis showed up and we had a great time of fellowship.

Shortly before 10:00am I heard the front door open.  I assumed it was Josh showing up for our unspoken, annual, canceled church fellowship meeting.  I should have guessed it wasn't Josh since this person was actually early.  It was Jan Krieger.  I was a little embarrassed that she had shown up for church especially when she told me that she was from the U.P. and that this weather was "nothing."

A few minutes later, Norm & Joyce showed up.  Oh boy.  I ALWAYS feel bad when we need to cancel, but now there were people showing up for church that I had determined was not going to happen!  Lilly pulled in right after Norm & Joyce.  Mark & Scotty pulled up next, with Freda sitting in the passengers seat!  At this point I'm feeling really guilty.

We all decided to sing a few songs, pray, & go to Cracker Barrel.  Mark & Scotty lead us in some Christmas carols.  We all thought it was funny when Jan suggested to our intimate gathering that we sing "O Come All Ye Faithful."  She claims she wasn't trying to make a joke, but I'm still not sure.  Jan, that was awesome!

Then, low and behold...here came Josh & Alex.  Christiana showed up shortly after them.

I gave a quick summery of the passage I intended to speak about (that's right, I said "quick" and I have witnesses) and encouraged everyone to study it further on their own.

After a time of prayer, we were off to Crackle Barrel.  It was really fun!  We all had a great time.  I can't wait to see how good church will be the next time we cancel.

WOW! I feel really bad for saying I was not gonna try and get out. I am glad that "The Faithful" came out. But just so you know I DID NOT go back to bed. It was a productive day but felt strange not coming in. I'll have to admit I kept looking at the clock and seeing what would be happening now at Church. I guess this is my one no show for the year!!!

I wondered if anyone would show up. Like I told Pastor when I called him, I don't think we could have gotten out. It took almost 2 hours to clear the driveway, although those who lived on our block said we could have gotten out as they drove by in the SUV's. Anyways, it sounds like fun, and if we could have gotten there, we would have!! Have a great Christmas everyone...Ani and I will be in Florida with both our parents!!
