The Board of Trustees
The results are in! Well ok, they've actually been in for a while. Alright they were in about 15 minutes after church on Sunday. Sorry it took me so long to post this but, at least I now know that people are checking it - and boy are they letting me know. So like I said, sorry it took so long. My dad, Richard Peddie and Jr. High Youth Pastor Craig Kuhn are our new Trustees. I would like to thank all of the nominees for their willingness to serve. The fact that all of the nominees had numerous votes shows that this was a really good group and I know several people struggled with who to vote for. Thank God we have such depth in our congregation. John Maxwell talks about the "law of E.F. Hutton" (anyone remember that commercial). Anyway, the law of E.F. Hutton says that there are people who are leaders (which means other people follow them) and it doesn't matter if they have a title or not. In other words, when they speak, people listen. Clearly, all of the nominees show leadership skills and have others who believe in them! This church is truly blessed!
I also feel at liberty to share some of the cool things that happened throughout this whole process. First of all, I want to tell you about Jeff Jackson. After we cleared up the whole membership mess, he told me that he would be honored to serve and that he would do his best, but that he would not vote for himself. What a great attitude. Obviously there is nothing wrong with voting for yourself, it's just cool that he said that.
The other thing that I think is really great is the fact that it was the board who suggested that Jeff be allowed to run. I shared that with you on Sunday morning, but what I did not tell you was that it was suggested by the two men who were running for re-election. It's a proud pastor who has guys like that serving on the board. They were more interested in being gracious to Jeff than the threat he may have presented for them. Those who say that church boards are ungodly and are guilty of religious politics have as never met our board. Who says, church boards aren't spiritual?
